What is Montessori?

The Montessori philosophy emphasizes learning through all five senses, not just through listening, watching or reading.

At Creative World of Montessori, learning is an exciting process of discovery, leading to concentration, motivation, self-discipline and a love of learning.

Unlike traditional classrooms, Montessori students are not required to sit and listen to teachers talk to them as a group, but are engaged in individual or group activities of their own. They actively learn with materials that have been introduced to them 1:1 by the teacher, who knows what each child is ready to do.

“Children are human beings to whom respect is due, superior to us by reason of their innocence and of the greater possibilities of their future.”

- Maria Montessori

Frequently asked questions:

What level of learning abilities is Montessori best suited to?

Montessori is suited to students of all learning abilities because it focuses on each individual student and their passions and level of development and abilities.

Why are there blended age classrooms in Montessori?

Montessori classrooms include students in three year age ranges, 3-6, 6-9, 9-12 and 12-15. The range in ages sets the students up for success by encouraging them to learn from each other. Younger students are inspired by the experiences of older students, and older students are inspired to become leaders in the classroom.

Do Montessori teachers follow a curriculum?

Montessori schools teach the same basic skills as traditional schools, and offer a rigorous academic program. Most of the subject areas are familiar—such as math, science, history, geography and language—but they are presented through an integrated approach that brings separate strands of the curriculum together.

Is Montessori education affiliated with a religion?

Creative World of Montessori is not affiliated with any one religion. Our programs are known for their broad diversity and celebrate all faiths and nationalities.
